Tipful Tuesday - Old Frames

Through the miracle of glue guns, we (as crafters ♥♥♥) can update old or used picture frames and give them as gifts on a number of special occasions...photos are nice but not necessarily required.  In the process you may even be able to clean out the junk drawer at the same time.

You can use any size and just glue the appropriate items in place, wrap, and watch them smile when they open the package.

  • the gamester - poker chips, dominoes or mah jongg tiles - glue them in a line across the top and bottom or diagonally across two or four corners
  • if you have a golfer use golf tees - the same way across the top and bottom or diagonally across two corners
  • the fisher - some fishing lures - center them at the top or  in the bottom right corner
  • parent-to-be - how about some booties or pacifiers - diagonally in opposite corners
  • young child - legos, tinkertoys or lincoln logs - around the rim or diagonally
  • dog lover - small dog biscuits coated with varnish or clear nail polish - around the rim

What have you used old frames for?

Fabulous Food Fridays - Chippy Chewy Bars

I needed something to take to a little family party and I found this recipe in my Hershey's Bake Shoppe Cookies.  YUMMY....they were gone in about 10 minutes.  J

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup  (1 stick) butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 2/3 cups (10-ounce package) REESE's Peanut Butter Chips
  • 1 1/2 cups MOUNDS Sweetened Coconut Flakes
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
  • 1 cup HERSHEY's Semi-Sweet Chocolate chips or HERSHEY's mini chips Semi-Sweet Chocolate
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons shortening (do not use butter, margarine or oil)

Directions:
  • Heat oven to 350 degrees
  • Place butter in 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.  Heat in oven until melted.  Remove pan from oven.  Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs evenly over butter; press down with fork.  Lay one cup peanut butter chips over crumbs; sprinkle coconut over peanut butter chips.  Layer remaining 2/3 cup peanut butter chips over coconut; drizzle sweetened condensed milk evenly over top.
  • Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned
  • In small microwave-safe bowl, place chocolate chips and shortening.  Microwave at HIGH (100%) 1 minute; stir.  If necessary, microwave at HIGH an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, just until chips are melted when stirred.  Drizzle evenly over top of baked mixture.  Cool completely in pan on wire rack.  Cut into bars.

Tipful Tuesday - Berry Baskets

I  ♥♥♥ fresh berries; so those little green baskets (like the one pictured below) they come in can stack up during the summer.  I've seen many crafters use them for crafts.  If you have please share a link as I'd love to try.

A few uses I found for using mine are
  • as a colander to strain canned beans....the weave is just enough to hold the beans, while letting the water run through
  • to hold hard-boiled eggs in the fridge so that they won't get mixed up with raw eggs
  • on the top rack of your dishwasher to hold cookie cutters, decorator tips or even baby bottle nipples so that they won't fall down into the washer
What uses have you found?  Any crafty ideas?  Please do share.
