I needed a 'treat' for a barbecue today and wasn't sure what to make. I saw the Stars & Strips Funfetti Cake Mix on clearance at Target and knew what I wanted to do. I had lots of help from my little munchkin.
We started with this
1 (18.9 oz) pkg Pillsbury Stars & Stripes Funfetti Cake Mix
1/3 cup oil
2 eggs
1 (15.6 oz) can Pillsbury Stars & Stripes Funfetti Frosting
- optional fun shapes - I had these on hand and my little munchkin wanted to use them
Sorry for some blurry pics......
In large bowl, combine cake mix, oil and eggs; stir with spoon until thoroughly moistened. Stir in candy bits from cake mix.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
(or in our case the star fun shape)
Flatten to 1/4-inch thickness with bottom of glass dipped in flour
(a glass was too big for the star shapes so we used the sprinkles container)
Bake at 375 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes or until edges are light golden brown.
(ours took 9 minutes) Cool for one minute; remove from cookie sheets

Spread frosting over cookies. Immediately sprinkle each with candy bits from frosting. Store in tightly covered container.
Makes 3 dozen cookies
(ours only made 2 dozen with the shapes)
Happy bakin' and Happy 4th!
