I've been MIA....
I've been around just EXTREMELY busy with every day life (as I'm sure all of you are); plus had a mini three day camping trip in there so I'm really behind. My little girl starts kindergarten on the 24th; so I've been back to school shopping and attending orientations and the such.
I have a few things to post for my design team duties at Sketches: Creatively Yours; some challenges I've completed for Sisterhood of Scrap and Fisk•a•teers. I also did some miscellaneous layouts and cards for some other challenges.
I've joined a color swap, a secret sister swap and some ATC swaps. Life is just plain crazy right now but I'm lovin' every minute of it.

I will try to post a few posts later this week and over the weekend; but I promise not to make them too photo heavy.
Thanks for stopping by.....

Quote of the Week
"This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind...let it be something good." – Unknown

Week 5 - From Here to There
I can't believe we are finished week 5 already of the Sizzlin' Summertime Fun at Sisterhood of Scrap and summer is almost over! Where is the time going??
Only four more weeks to go then back to the monthly challenges I think; maybe the girls have something else up their sleeves. :)
I had lots of fun with this weeks challenges. I just received the Simple Stories Destinations Collection with my Memory Works order and boy was it delish! At least IMHO..

The colors matched perfectly with the Color Challenge and I'm trying to finish the pictures from our trip to Shenandoah Crossings in 2009. So without further delay....
Color Challenge
Layout Sketch
I actually flipped the sketch to go with my portrait photo.
The card challenge this week was not a sketch but to have some sort of MOVEABLE item/embellishment.
I actually used an Action Wobble on my card. I'm honestly not sure where or how I got them; but I really like it now that I used it. The Around the World embellishment actually spins.
The bonus challenge this week was to use a postcard, ticket, boarding pass or other travel related item on your card or layout. I did a layout using an embellishment with a piece of luggage and some other embellies from the Destinations Collection Kit.
All Materials on all projects are from the Destinations Collection; along with the matching American Crafts Cardstock; Simple Stories Ribbon and Petaloo Color Me Crazy Flowers. The buttons and brads are from my stash.
The photo challenge this week was for a scenic photo; a suitcase; a road sign; a tent/camper and a gas station. I actually took all these photos on the way home from work last Friday with my phone.
I am having a wonderful time with the Sizzlin' Summertime Fun Challenges at SOS. You really should stop by and if you do let me know you did.
Can't wait to find out what next weeks theme is and what the girls came up with for the challenges. I guess tomorrow will be here soon enough.

Thanks for stopping by....and again thanks for all the wonderful comments. I truly appreciate every single one!

Week 4 - Fire Up the Grill
Sizzlin' Summertime Fun Week 4 at Sisterhood of Scrap was all about....Fire Up the Grill. However, maybe it should have been Heat Up the Grill; the way the temperatures have been around here. I don't know about where you all live but here in the United States it's been 95+ with very high heat indexes and humidity.
On with the challenges....My projects for Week 4.....
Color Challenge
This week instead of a layout for the color challenge I did a card. All materials are from the Fancy Pants Tradition Collection.
Layout Sketch
I wasn't really happy with this layout. My daughter always gives me these silly fake smiles; and I really don't like it but it does show her personality, I guess. ;) This is my very first layout using Webster's papers! I can honestly say I was a little intimated using them as they are so beautiful and I really don't think I did them justice. :) Hopefully next time though.
Card Sketch
For this card I used the Basic Grey Out of Print Collection.....
And the Bonus Challenge was to create a layout with FOOD. As you can see when we go camping we eat very well; but is does get very hot cooking all this yummy food in the middle of the summer.
Materials List
American Craft Cardstock - Brown and Red
Simple Stories Life Documented Border Strips, 4 x 6 Journaling Card and Stickers
And of course the good ole' photo challenge of a finding a grill; some BBQ Sauce; a hamburger or hot dog; Corn on the Cob and an Apron.
You really should stop on by....so much fun and inspiration. It will definitely keep you on your toes.
Thanks for stopping by....hope to see you at the hood!

All About The Butterfly
Trying my hand at another card.
Pixie Dust Paperie is a monthly kit club (I believe) and they have a wonderful blog with lots of inspiration, in my opinion. They have a challenge this month All About the Butterfly. I love butterflies so thought I'd play along. I didn't go all extravagant or anything.
I really like the Country Drive Collection from Echo Park (I really can't get enough of EP lately
) and it actually has butterflies on the paper. So I used some scraps and this is what I came up with.
