My New Ride

It's time for the new sketch of the week at Sketches: Creatively Yours....Sketch 04-11.  I actually did a double layout this week using pictures of my daughters birthday party.  She got a PINK Barbie Bike with training wheels and streamers and a little basket for her to take Barbie for a ride.  She just loved it.
Here is Ali's sketch

And here's my take...I used Creative Imaginations Birthday Surprise and AC Cardstock and some odd and ends embellies I had in my stash.

You'll be happy to know that I'm almost finished with her birthday party picutres.

Camping

We love to go camping; in fact we go at least once a month from March through October; sometimes twice a month depending what is going in.  It is so peaceful and relaxing.  This is the weekend we went camping when Hurricane Katrina hit the south.  It rained the entire weeked but that didn't stop us.  We still had TONS of fun and the kids loved playing in the rain.  The first layout I did for a challenge at Sisterhood of Scrap for the birthday celebration.  You were to use at least two photos and one of them must have at least four people in the picture.  It didn't show up very well in the picture but between the title are umbrella's and rain.

This next layout was also done for Sisterhood of Scrap but for a Monday Challenge.  You were to use mainly two colors and a picture that didn't have people or animals.  I used this sketch from SEI for their April Sketch Challenge.  I used SEI En Route Paper.

This is what I came up with.

New Layout

Here is the latest layout I finished for a few challenges.  The first challenge is for Sisterhood of Scrap; one of the birthday challenges was to use ribbon at least four different times on your layout.  I love ribbon so this wasn't that much a challenge - the challenge was finding ribbon that matched and that matched my photo.  The next challenge was a sketch challenge for the Anniversary Party at Sweet Peach Crop Shop

Here is the sketch

The third and final challenge I am entering this layout in is from ScrapFit Workout #42 - Back In The Day.  You were to dig out an old photo.

Here is my take for the three challenges

I've been busy creating other layouts and cards which I will share soon.

Flowers For Your Room

My daughter is always wanting flowers for her room; but flowers obviously die.  I always tell my hubby not to buy me flowers for any occasion because I think it's a wait of money; don't get be wrong I think flowers are beautiful but as I mentioned you'll spend lots of money and then they die.  In my opinion that's like throwing money down the drain.

Anyhoo I saw this tutorial on Sweet Peach Crop Shop for Try it Thursday and I immediately thought of flowers for my daughters room.  Very pretty, inexpensive and best of all they won't die.

I figured what the heck I'll give it a try.  I already had a jar; I had paint, I had ribbon and I had bright flowery scrap paper.  So for basically no cost I made these for my daughters room.

I painted the dowel rods green; made lollipop flowers from scraps; added some stickles to the flowers; used  a brad in the center to hold the flowers together then used my hot glue gun to attach the flowers to the dowel rod; added some ribbon and viola.  She loved them.
I didn't have it finished in time to post for the challenge but I wanted to share.

My New Play Set

Last Saturday at Sisterhood of Scrap we had our monthly one hour crop, and I must say there were some amazing submissions for this!!  This one for some reason did not seem quite as stressful for me; not sure why.  Is it because I'm getting use to them or what...we'll I'll guess we shall see next month.

Here is the sketch Helen posted....

And here's my take....

My daughter was so excited to finally have her own sliding board and swing set she couldn't wait for daddy to get it together.  He worked late into the night to get this together for her.  I'm sure you'll see more of this little project.

SOS Pre-Birthday Surprise

Yes, I know I'm a little late.  Lots going on the past few weeks with taxes and life.  Well at least taxes are behind us for another year.  Now onto some projects.  Sisterhood of Scrap is in the process of having a 4th birthday celebration and Helen throw a little surprise pre-birthday party for us.

She challenged us to do a layout, card, ATC, Arch, or altered item for each letter of the month of April!

In one project use something with the letter "A"; in the second project use the "P";
in the third use the "R"; in the fourth use "I"; and in the fifth use the "l".

That is a total if 5 projects!!

I did five different cards.....IMO not the best but I did get ideas for donating my cards from the girls (otherwise they would probably end of up in the trash or in my daughters bedroom, how she loves to hoard things LOL)

A is for Apple - Apple of My Eye

P is for Pattern Paper - I Love You

R is for Ribbon - Smile

I is for I Adore You

and lastly L is for LOVE

Thanks for stopping by to take a peak.....

C B A

Sketches: Creatively Yours is back online with a new design Team after a six month break.  A little about the first sketch (Sketch 01-11):  created for a 12x12 layout, with some paper layering, an arch and enough room for a title and subtitle.  Here is the original sketch created by Ali.

And here is my take on it

This is a picture of my dear baby brother in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.  I have the journaling hidden in the envelope.  The CBA is a term he and his Army buddies use.  You can see the rest of the DT Interpretations here. Awesome interpretations by everyone!  Maybe you'd like to try the sketch yourself.

Top 20.....so excited

I created a layout using Paper Crush from Sassafras for a March challenge at SOS.  The challenge was for National Teenager Day on March 21st.  You were to include a picture of a teen and you had to use stickers and brackets; nothing fancy.  We'll I don't do white space and I always have to add some bling or flowers; but this time I didn't; remember NOTHING FANCY.  I actually had to hide the layout when I was done because I thought it needed more. Here's my layout

This is a picture of my step-daughter her senior year of high school.  She is not a frilly, lacey, blingy kind of girl.  So this challenge was perfect for her picuture.

Then I saw a challenge on the Sassafras Blog to create a layout using BLOCKING and 85% Sassafras product.  I normally don't enter Manufacturer challenges but I thought what could it hurt.  This fit the challenge perfect.  So I entered it.

To my surprise I checked the Sassafras Blog this morning and my layout made the TOP 20!!!!  WOW....I'm so excited!!!!! The final winner will be annouced tonight and will win $50 worth of Sassafras goodies.  O, how I love Sassafras but being picked for the TOP 20 is a WIN for me.  You can check the rest of the Top 20 here.
